MISSED CLASSES POLICY
Content of and assignments for missed classes are the student’s responsibility to access. Voice and Acting Demos are scheduled into the curriculum, if you are absent during these dates instructors will not be responsible helping you complete them on their own time.
Leave of Absence:
Due to our strict Attendance Policy, we do not offer a “leave of absence” option. If for some reason you cannot avoid taking time away please provide the Senior Educational Administrator with information about the reasons for your absence in writing. Upon receipt of this notice, a meeting will be set up to discuss possible options and documented in an Incident Form. A copy shall be given to the student, a copy will be placed in the school’s Incident Form File, and the original will be placed in the Student File
Medical and other Appointments:
As attendance is crucial to your success in the program, it is important that no other appointments (doctor, dentist, headshots, industry functions etc.) or events are scheduled during class hours. These will not be considered valid reasons for missing class and you will be marked as absent. Special permissions may be granted if best efforts are sincerely made and nothing else is an option. Please inform both your instructor and reception in advance of your appointment.
Paid Acting Work in Film and Television:
Should you have the opportunity to do paid work in film and television we do encourage you to take it. Upon receiving the dates that you will be away to work please see the Senior Educational Administrator so that arrangements can be made to incorporate these dates into your program with additional assignments so that the dates do not count as absences.
Background Work and Student Films:
While we do recognize the value of this type of work experience, we do not feel that background work or student films are a replacement for the instruction that you receive at SchoolCreative. Time taken to work on these types of projects will result in the student being marked as absent.
Headshots are necessary for work in film and television but shooting them during class time is not. Shoots booked during class time will result in students being marked as absent.
TECHNOLOGY IN AND FOR CLASS POLICY
Cameras & Computers:
Cameras and computers are for class use only. All students will be instructed on a)how to use all of the equipment and b) how to store files. Due to limited storage availability, improperly stored files will be deleted with no ability of retrieval. Please ensure you are completely clear on what to do to avoid any loss of the content that you create.
Use of mobile phones is not permitted in class. No texting. No calls. No Facebook or other social media. If you chose to use your mobile phone during class time you will be asked to leave class. Taking notes on mobile phones is not acceptable.
Flash drives with students’ names on them should be brought to every On Camera class as storage on computers is limited.
Laptops & Tablets:
Laptop computers and tablets will be allowed for Business and Voice-Over classes as well as in all classes of the Screenwriting Intensive. In other classes, pen and paper should always be out.
The printer at SchoolCreative is for office use only and is not available for students to print off homework, sides or any other materials. It is your responsibility to come to class prepared with these items already printed out.
Before, between and after class use of the technology is completely supported. Students are welcome to use the “Students” Wi-Fi account with the password: “gostudents”.
