Mary L. G. Jensen is a second generation portrait photographer who made her first portrait when she was 6 years old. She began teaching hand retouching and colouring in 1983. And she has been running her portrait studio, Artisan Photography, since 1986.
Through her involvement in the Professional Photographers Association of Canada, she has earned much recognition from her peers. She has given talks and seminars as well as had her work exhibited across Canada. She has earned her Master’s designation (she is a Master of Photographic Arts–MPA) and is a Fellow of the Professional Photographer’s Association of British Columbia (f/PPABC).
Mary focuses on creating portraits of children and families. With a desire to celebrate what’s important in our lives, she usually makes her portraits and images in carefully chosen locations that are meaningful to her subjects.
Mary has taken part in group shows with Capture, Photography Festival (2013), and with PHOTOgraphie (2014). In 2011, Mary was a City of Richmond Ethel Tibbett’s Women of Distinction Award nominee.
