Joel Sturrock is an alumnus of Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet School and the Canadian College of Performing Arts. After completing a choreography mentorship under Artistic Director Jacques Lemay, Joel worked across North America and Europe as a performer, choreographer, dance consultant and movement coach. As a performer, he has worked on such projects as Rosie Odonnel’s Our Family Cruise onboard Norwegian Cruise Lines, Tony Award Nominee Johnny Tartaglia’s Ad-Liberty, Beauty & The Beast (Arts Club), The Shape of Things (20something Theatre) and MOVE: The Company. Select credits for the screen include CW’s Hellcats, MTV LIVE, Hell on Heels: The Battle of Mary Kay, feature films Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Gunless, Cinemanovels and most recently the indie RomCom What An Idiot. Joel’s keen eye for detail combined with his unique approach to style and movement has had him choreographing for such projects as the Jessie Award winning Bombitty of Errors, Bravofact’s The Dancing Cop (Official Selection TIFF 2012), MTV’s Dancing with the Hosts, Hey Ocean!’s Big Blue Wave music video, and feature films Afghan Luke and After Party.
He currently resides in Vancouver, British Columbia where he is the co-creator and choreographer of the True Heroines Web Series, and the Artistic Director of it’s companion live Cabaret Show, The True Heroines: A Comic Strip Cabaret. IMDB
