Practical Videogame Design

Course Purpose

Following on from Introduction to Game Design, students will take their knowledge of non-videogame based game design – and start to apply it with relation to working inside a real videogame, as would happen in a real videogame studio.

Course Goals and Outcomes

Specific areas the course will look at include:

  • Writing game design documents
  • Exploring interactive game design
  • Relationship between traditional games and modern videogames
  • Exploring issues related to the interactive entertainment industry
Supplies and Equipment

Students are required to bring the following with them to classes: 3” binder with paper and tabs, notebook, pen, pencil, highlighter, calculator. It is required that students have computer access outside of class.
