Level Design

Course Purpose

Using an existing commercial game engine, students will learn the level design process for a variety of game genres.

Course Goals and Outcomes

Specific areas the course will look at include:

  • Level Efficiency and design ethics
  • Using light to create tension
  • Scripted events
  • Giving player tips via the environment
  • Managing the learning/fun curve inside of the level.
Supplies and Equipment

Students are required to bring the following with them to classes: 3” binder with paper and tabs, notebook, pen, pencil, highlighter, calculator. It is required that students have computer access outside of class.
