Interactive Story Telling

Course Purpose:

This course extends on the Story Telling course, by focusing on the interactive element. Students will use existing game engines to tell their stories via videogame mechanics.

Specific areas the course will look at include:

  • Types of story telling in games
    • RPGs
    • Adventures
    • Passive story telling
  • Dialog trees
  • Branching stories with the players actions
  • Keeping the player interested
  • Story dependency charts

Supplies and Equipment

Students are required to bring the following with them to classes: 3” binder with paper and tabs, notebook, pen, pencil, highlighter, calculator. It is required that students have computer access outside of class.
